The weather promised a warmer day as we head into the end of winter, so I took a day to wander over towards the Blue Ridge. My plan was to hit a few different waterfall hikes along the Blue Ridge Parkway, but after my first stop at Crabtree Falls, I discovered the BRP was essentially closed due to remaining snow and ice. Oops! So instead, I wandered some mountain roads and made a couple quick stops before ending up in Charlottesville, where I explored some local history in the form of the remains of an old power plant for the electric streetcar system–a fascinating place which deserves its own post!
